Dutch illustrator specializing custom lettering, Eric van der Boom was recently commissioned by the vintage-sound guitar pedal manufacturer Dr. No Effects to create a new logo, packaging and product styling for all their pedals. The visual styles for each of the pedals pair amazing well with the rich tone and sounds (demo the sounds on the Dr. No site).

A distinctive pair of tracks kick off with live trip hop, jazz horns and rounded string pads fronted by vocalist Yuri Mendez on ‘Only For Pleasure’, who sounds a lot like the TV On The Radio singer Tunde Adebimpe. The short play time leaves you feeling shortchanged, but who gives a horn blast?
‘Reasons’, leans closer to contemporary jazz stalwarts Cinematic Orchestra or Submotion Orchestra, where dozens of pretty layers are mixed to perfection. If The Archive can convert this into a into a full touring lineup, they could be significant.
